Fito Reinoso Y Su Ritmo Y Armonia If you are looking for the scorching rhythms of Cuban timba new-wave, Fito Reinoso y su Ritmo y Armonia is guaranteed to please. As well as being an amazingly gifted Cuban sonero, Fito Reinoso is also an accomplished singer-songwriter. At a very young age, Fito began playing tres and bass in the streets of Candelaria, in the province of Pinar Del Rio. He joined Orquesta Gloria de Cuba at the age of 12. A proud Marielito, he came to the United States in 1980 and soon began impacting the thriving Bay Area Latin Music scene. Fito Reinoso has made the Bay Area his home and is the premier Cuban born Sonero performing in the Bay Area. His sound includes a variety of styles, from timba to the most recent urban Havana grooves, to the classic son and cha-cha-cha, all with a voice reminiscent of the late and beloved legendary Cuban singer Beny More. His dynamic personality and showmanship have led him to collaborate with some of the top musicians residing in Cuba and the United States. Fito was nominated for the Grammy for his work with Patato Valdez and has played with Cuban legends such as Francisco Aguabella, Armando Peraza, Carlos Israel Lopez Cachao and Chuchito Valdez among many others. He has always kept his strong ties with Cuba alive while blending in the current popular styles in a way that keep his repertoire sounding vibrant and modern. The Band features veterans Sandy Perez (former principal soloist of AfroCuba de Matanzas), Carlos Caro (formerly with Paulito F.G.) and Junior Terry (from the critically acclaimed Los Terry Family), as well as showcasing Bay Area talent including Patricio Angulo (timbal), Erick Barberia (congas) Michael Lazarus (bass), and Jason Moen (piano). Also featured on the album are Fito's daughter Genesie Reinoso (vocals), Jose Luis Gomez (vocals), Ari Rios (vocals), and Coto Pincheira (piano/synths). Fito's band, Ritmo y Armonia primarily plays the original music composed by Fito and inspired by contemporary Cuban rhythms. The orchestra also plays more traditional Cuban genres such as son-montuno, cha-cha-cha, and bolero, always with a sound that is authentic. |

Jesus Diaz y Su QBA From Bombo music.. Listen and Purchase their music here Cuban born percussionist Jesús Diaz has quietly and assuredly taken the Bay Area music by storm, and established a place in the world of Latin and Cuban style dance music. The rich musical diversity of the Bay Area, combined with the roots of Afro-Cuban music, has provided the opportunity to learn, experiment and arrive at the evolution of what QBA is today. Showcased in their CD releases, CARAMELO and JARDINERO, Jesús has assembled an incomparable orchestra of accomplished artists whose talents combine Funk, Jazz, Rumba, Son, and varied Afro-Cuban elements within the syncopation of modern expressions in Cuban dance music. This musical tradition is rooted in the firm belief in the importance of creating new and unique "signature" styles and sounds. The drive of the music is a direct function of remaining actively engaged with the dancers. Most recently, Jesús Díaz Y Su QBA have shared the stage along with renowned Cuban artists such as Issaac Delgado and Manolin "El Medico de La Salsa", demonstrating that original "Timba" is indeed alive and well here in the United States. QBA fuses modern and traditional elements of Afro-Cuban influences within dance music to create their unique sound.

Rumbaché (formerly Quimbombó) has established themselves as one of the hottest Bay Area salsa bands. Fusing salsa, timba, bomba and whatever else they could find to spicen up the mood, they provide a hard hitting style of playing. And while you can hear them interpreting the classic and contemporary Cuban and Salsa repertoire, they are not shy with their own expression. Their fresh originals make them stand-out in an otherwise cover heavy salsa scene. Under the leadership of percussionist Patricio Angulo, Rumbaché is the voice of youth for San Francisco's salsa scene, and ignites enthusiasm in dancers and musical connoisseurs alike.

Maisa Duke and Energia Do Samba Maisa was born in the America's capital of the African Diaspora, Salvador, Bahia Brazil and as far as she can remember, dancing is what she enjoyed most. Maisa started entering and winning dance contests when she was ten years old. Her ability to move her perfectly toned body to the complex, frenetic polyrhythmic beating of samba music has never been done with such beauty and grace in the SF Bay Area. Maisa immigrated to the U.S. in 1998. She has been teaching dance for over 10 years. In 2000, she founded Energia do Samba Dance Company. Her dream is to share Samba with the world. The name Energia do Samba (The Energy of Samba) was chosen by Maisa because it is the energy, or more specifically, the positive energy of Samba, that she believes is the essence of Samba. Energia do Samba's dancing is the embodiment of that energy. Prior to the birth of Energia do Samba, Maisa performed with many dance groups in California. Maisa Duke/Energia Do Samba has performed at many celebrity functions, including Robin Williams' 50th birthday and events for the late Christopher Reeves, and former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown at City Hall, Warriors basketball team, San Francisco Giants games, Academy of Sciences in S.F., California Music World in Oakland, Ethnic Dance Festival, The Queen Mary in L.A, for Pele, the most famous soccer player in the world, and many, many other events. |

The original group started in Eugene, but in 2005 Rumbanana has transitioned to Corvallis. Our mission is simple. We want to infect as many fun people as possible with the Cuban Salsa virus. Once you get it - there's no cure, only relief through lots of Salsa dancing and partying. Rumbanana Salsa Group is a super, fun crew of people that love Casino, Rueda de Casino and meeting lots of people. We're all about having a great time and promoting Cuban music and dance. We love to party...just ask anyone who's been to an event with us. We're usually the hotel rooms that are the loudest and most often kicked out by hotel security. UNA BULLA!!! |

Although the emphasis is on casino style salsa, CQSS members are well rooted in many other dance forms, such as Afro-Cuban, Haitian, Salsa, Jazz and Ballet to name a few. As a result the artistry displayed during a CQSS performance is a collaborative effort of CQSS members. As a fairly new group, CQSS have performed at the Palm Springs West Coast Casino Congress/Salsa Extravaganza, the Xtreme Cuban Salsa Weekend in Corvalis Oregon...UNA BULLA...and last year’s first San Francisco Salsa Rueda Festival, as well as venues in Los Angeles and neighboring area. CQSS is currently training in Afro-Cuban and popular dance under the supervision of Kati Hernandez, of the prestigious Artes school in La Havana, as she helps them to expand and understand the raices of their movements and dance. Eugene Casineros Less than two years ago, The Eugene Casineros Dance Group was born out of necessity. Despite Eugene's rich salsa scene, opportunities to dance Rueda de Casino were scarce. The Eugene Casineros began in the home of one of its members and has grown into a thriving social dance community. They have performed at many local venues in the Eugene, Oregon area and will be appearing for the second time at the San Francisco Salsa Rueda Festival. Their choreographies are developed through the collective, creative efforts of several group members. The Eugene Casineros have a wide range of experience, styles and backgrounds but have one thing in common -- they love to dance together. |

TimbaTu TimbaTu has been dancing together and studying Rueda de Casino since late 2007. Their director, Bruno Rivera, has infused elements of traditional Cuban dances like Son, Cha cha cha and Mambo into TimbaTu’s Casino repertoire. Bruno has gained invaluable experience working with master dancer and choreographer Rene Thompson. Earlier this year, he traveled to Cuba and to Peru, and returned even more excited about sharing his love of Cuban music and dance with TimbaTu and the Twin Cities dance community. TimbaTu is based in Minneapolis at the Four Seasons Dance Studio. This past summer, the group began performing at local salsa clubs and outdoor events. Their premier high-energy Rueda piece is based on the song “Croma Latina llegó”. Several members of TimbaTu participated in the 2009 San Francisco Salsa Rueda Festival and returned to Minnesota even more energized and excited about Rueda de Casino and other forms of Cuban dance. TimbaTu is excited to return to San Francisco in 2010… this time to perform as a group! |
